Privacy policy

Pastime is a calendar-first tracker for TV, movies, and sports. To remember what you watch and follow, we store some data about you. This page says exactly what, and why.
Who we are
Pastime is operated by the developer of Pastime, based in California, United States. For anything in this policy, reach us at support@pastimenow.com.
What we collect
Only what the app needs to work. Pastime does not currently show advertising, and we do not track you across other apps or websites. We do not sell or rent your data to anyone.

| Crash and diagnostic reports | When the app crashes, we receive an automatic report describing what went wrong and the device model. It is used to fix bugs. |
Location
Pastime can suggest teams from your metro area. This only happens when you tap "Find my local teams" — we never ask for location in the background or on startup.
When you do tap it, we request approximate location (not precise GPS), use it on your device to work out which metro area you are in, and show you the teams there. Your coordinates are never sent to our servers and are never stored. They exist in your phone's memory for a moment and are then discarded.
You can decline. The app works normally and you pick your teams from the full list instead.
What we do not collect
- Your contacts, photos, files, microphone, or camera
- Your precise GPS location
- Payment details — we do not currently process payments
- Your advertising identifier — while the app shows no ads (see 'Advertising' below)
Advertising
Pastime shows no ads today. We plan to introduce advertising in a future version to help keep the app free. Before any ads appear, we will update this policy and the app's Play Store data disclosures, and the change will be visible in the app. When that happens, an advertising provider may use your device's advertising identifier to serve ads — we will describe exactly what is collected and shared at that time. We will not begin advertising quietly.
Who we share it with
We share data only with the services that make the app run. Each one only receives what it needs.

Our database and authentication are hosted in the United States. If you use Pastime from outside the US, your data is transferred there.
We do not sell your personal information. We will disclose data if legally compelled to, and we will tell you unless we are prohibited from doing so.
How long we keep it
Your account data stays until you delete your account. When you do, your account and your data are removed from our systems — see Delete your account. Where you added something to a list you shared with someone else, the item stays on their list with your name removed from it. Crash reports are retained by Firebase and Sentry on their own schedules. Sentry reports include your account identifier so we can trace a fault to a specific session; they are deleted when their retention window expires, and you can ask us to purge them sooner.
Your choices
- Delete your account. In the app, or from this page. This removes your data.
- Turn off notifications. Per-type, in the app's notification settings, or system-wide in Android settings.
- Decline location. Just don't tap the button, or deny the prompt.
- Request a copy of your data. Email us and we will send it.
- Correct something. Most of it is editable in the app. Email us for anything that isn't.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA. We honour these requests regardless of where you are — email support@pastimenow.com.
Children
Pastime is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will remove it.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Your personal records — your watch activity, your lists, and your reviews — are protected at the database level so that only your account can read and write them. Shared reference data, such as show, film, and game information, is common to everyone. No system is perfectly secure, but we take this seriously and fix problems when we find them.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that materially affects you, we will update the date above and notify you in the app before it takes effect.
